SynTech CDT Events

Events

SynTech CDT Annual Symposium

The annual symposium takes place in January to showcase the work of the students to a wider audience from both academia and industry. This is a great opportunity for students to practice explaining, disseminating and discussing their research with experts from various sectors.

SynTech CDT Networking Events

The networking events are held every 3 - 4 months and are a great opportunity for students on the SynTech programme to network with industry, academics and other students from the CDT participating departments.

SynTech CDT Industry Seminars

The Industrial seminars are held every 2-3 months throughout the year to provide an excellent opportunity for CDT students to hear directly from experts outside academia about the research that is taking place in world leading companies and the challenges that need to be overcome.

SynTech CDT Journal Club and Discussion Sessions

The SynTech cohorts hold a journal club to discuss relevant publications and their work within their research areas.

These sessions are self-lead by the CDT students taking turns to present to the SynTech group every two weeks.

Joint CDT Conference in "Data Driven Chemical Synthesis and Catalysis"

This conference is organised by the four EPSRC funded CDTs working at the interface of Chemistry and Data Science to address modern global challenges. Second year students from each of the centres present their work, to give an insight into how these fields can interact to provide modern approaches to deliver efficient and sophisticated research. The conference is held every year in the Spring (April-May).

Annual Machine Learning and AI Conference in Bio(Chemical) Engineering (MABC)

The International Conference on Machine Learning and AI in (bio)Chemical Engineering takes place every year in summer (July) and is organised by CDT students and colleagues from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. This conference is aimed to bring together inspirational speakers from across the globe and explores the power of AI and machine learning to change the landscape of chemical processing and manufacture.

Cambridge Festival

This Cambridge Festival held on the 9th of April 2022, 10am to 4pm. SynTech students demonstrated "How Machine Learning can be used in Synthetic Chemistry" and other fun interactive science experiments at The Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry.
