SynTech Annual Symposium - 20th January 2021

During this event the first cohort of CDT students will present their projects to provide opportunities for discussion and feedback on their progress so far. Our second cohort students will also be giving short introduction talks about their initial research objectives and their plans moving forward. Combined, this will provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about the research being undertaken at the centre.

CDT Networking events.

These networking events will be held every 3 - 4 months and are a great opportunity for students on the SynTech programme to network with industry, academics and other students.

CDT Industry Talks.

These industry talks will be held throughout the year and will be an excellent opportunity for our students to hear directly from industry the type of research that is taking place and the challenges that need to be overcome.

Our first set of talks will be on the 12th May 2021, 16:00 to 18:00  with Steven Kearnes from Google and the 13th July 2021, 14:00 to 16:00 with Melodie Christensen from Merck.

SynTech CDT bi-weekly journal club

The Syntech cohorts hold a journal club to discuss their research and current problems within their research areas.

These sessions are held every 2 weeks and are self lead by the CDT students taking turns to present to the SynTech group.

Joint CDT Conference in Data Driven Chemical Synthesis and Catalysis - 20th April 2021

This conference is organised by the four EPSRC funded CDTs working at the interface of Chemistry and Data Science to address modern global challenges. CDT Cohort 1 students from each of the Centres will present their work, to give an insight into how these fields can interact to provide modern approaches to deliver efficient and sophisticated research. The format of the day will take the form of a competition with 15-min presentations from students spread across five parallel sessions taking place in the morning and the best one from each session will present again in the afternoon where they will be scored by our industrial advisory members/event sponsors. We also have poster presentations from students working in related fields during the day and the event will be concluded with two plenary talks from our keynote speakers Prof Connor Coley and Prof Abigail Doyle followed by the announcement of prizes.

Annual Machine Learning Conference at Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology: 6th and 7th of July 2021

The 4th International Conference on Machine Learning and AI in (bio)Chemical Engineering will take place online on July 6-7, 2021. The theme for this year is "Democratising ML in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering".
